Feeling ‘Incidentally Aesthetic’ in the Age of Instagram
Experimental artists redefine and transform reality. When we encounter experimental practice, our experience of what art is and can be, expands. Contemporary experimental practice challenges and interrogates the idea of what art is, not by repeating existing forms but by asking new questions. This is one reason why I think a question like ‘what does experimental art look like?’ is less than helpful in reflecting on experimental practice today.
