Issue 37:2 | June 2017

Commissioned by Margo Neale, Senior Indigenous Curator, National Museum of Australia, and an Adjunct Professor at the Australian National University. She is of Irish and Aboriginal descent (Kulin Nation with Wiradjuri and Gumbayngirr clan connections).

This issue of Artlink Indigenous explores the transcultural relations of Indigenous contemporary artists from across the globe. It’s a hot zone of contact across genres, genders, generations, traditions and institutions. This collection of writings on art and artists unpacks the notion of transculturation and provides insights into the parallel histories and opportunities arising out of postcolonial spaces in a transnational world.
