Hyphen

Issue 44:3 | Warltati / Summer 2024

Guest editors: Ava Lacoon, Claire Osborn-Li & Hen Vaughan

This issue presents a sample of a new generation of Australian art writers alert to the uneven conditions of the globe. An outcome of a publishing partnership between Artlink and the National Gallery of Australia's 2024 Young Writers Digital Residency, Hyphen reflects the creative work of three collaborating first-time guest editors: Ava Lacoon, Claire Osborn-Li and Hen Vaughan. The trio invited emerging writers, artists and curators to consider hybridity in relation to the future of arts spaces and systems. Articles explore effective artist support networks and models of access, arts and disability, young people's roles in museums and ARIs, hybrid cultural identity, post-AI internet art and the complexity of making art in times of geopolitical conflict. Metaphorically, Hyphen represents abundant links with the past-present-future, and audiences-artists-writers and their creative work.
