A Festival of Island Cultures: 10 Days on the Island, Tasmania 30 March - 8 April 2001, Artistic Director: Robyn Archer
10 Days on the Island is a new Festival which invites the visitor to explore Tasmania through the visual and performing arts while simultaneously sampling spectacular landscapes and varied culinary delights in a wide range of places from the north to the south. This is an ingenious way to help visitors appreciate the uniqueness of the Tasmanian archipelago and its people. Moreover, Robyn Archer's concept of inviting artists from other islands around the world to participate will test the hypothesis that island cultures are different from mainland ones. All of the major visual arts venues are involved in the festive event and island dwellers from various parts of the globe are coming together in a number of the shows.
