Yuki Kihara: New guises

Ioana Gordon-Smith is a Sāmoan arts writer based in Aotearoa New Zealand, Curator Māori Pacific at Pātaka Art + Museum and previously inaugural Curator at Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery, who works closely with artists and arts communities.

A native of Sāmoa, Yuki Kihara is an interdisciplinary artist of Japanese and Sāmoan descent whose work seeks to challenge dominant and singular historical narratives through visual arts, dance, and curatorial practice. Kihara will represent Aotereroa New Zealand at the 2022 Biennale di Venezia, supported by the Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa and curated by Natalie King.
