Public Art and the Transnational Appeal of Localism: Designing for Public Space, Urban Art Projects
Within Australia, UAP (Urban Art Projects) has enjoyed an extensive reputation in terms of its capacity to generate and produce public art. Recently the two principals of the company, Matt and Dan Tobin, have moved to two offshore destinations - Shanghai, China and Houston, Texas, in order to grow the business internationally. And grow it has. Despite being defined as specific to particular sites, publics, shared ideas and ideals, public art has become an international business that is transcultural and transnational in nature.
