(in)destructible

During the winter of 2013, the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) exhibited work by one of Australia's most respected graffiti writers, Kid Zoom – except that the exhibition, Suburban, was presented as the work of Ian Strange, contemporary artist. Strange’s history as a graffiti writer was muted within the exhibition; mentioned in its didactic text, certainly, and with aerosol paint used in the creation of the work on display, but it would have been possible to visit the exhibition and not discern that Strange is also (or perhaps was also) Kid Zoom.
