Reason and fancy in the art of Brian Robinson
Brian Robinson, a Waiben artist living in Cairns, Queensland, cites Leonardo da Vinci as inspiration. Da Vinci was the epitome of a Renaissance man; a painter, sculptor, architect, musician, mathematician, engineer, inventor, anatomist, geologist, cartographer, botanist and writer. His vision of the world was essentially logical, but was also concerned with those ideologies that seem esoteric, metaphysical and indeed, fantastical. It comes as no surprise, then, that Robinson finds himself drawn to Da Vinci's worldview as his own is similar, despite being born 522 years after the Renaissance artist.
